Why Clockwise decided to lay bricks in the metaverse

The metaverse is a fourth dimension where we can come together like never before and connect with people from across the globe. The flexible workspace industry has been growing and adapting for years, notably during and since the pandemic, when demand soared like never before. At Clockwise, the natural next step in our journey was to lay bricks in the metaverse. We now offer all our members a space-age space for them to meet, work, connect and allow ideas to prosper, without the constraints of a physical environment.

Embracing emerging trends

Clockwise’s decision to venture into the metaverse is a strategic move that reflects our approach to technology, innovation and building community. In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, it’s imperative for businesses to adapt and embrace emerging trends to stay relevant and competitive. By establishing a presence in the metaverse, Clockwise is continuing to grow and tapping into a burgeoning platform with immense potential.

The Clockwise Campus is the first workspace in the metaverse, bringing together a variety of creative and tactical elements through its build. A huge part of our offering at Clockwise goes beyond bricks and mortar. Memberships to our sites provide founders, small businesses and larger companies alike the opportunity to meet and connect with like-minded individuals, often leading to real business results whether it be partnerships, investment or mentorship.

The only trouble is, these connections do not go far enough beyond our physical buildings. We wanted to give our members more. Now, members from sites across the UK and Europe come together in the Clockwise Campus and this has allowed connections to form where they never before would have.

A dynamic platform

Whether through hosting virtual events, conducting meetings in immersive environments or collaborating on projects in real time, the metaverse offers a dynamic platform for fostering connections and driving collective innovation. Digital collaboration is now a cornerstone of every business. The metaverse only makes this easier and more possible. Technology like this has allowed us all to come together like never before, flexible work has a new meaning and the working patterns that have already changed more in the last five years than the last hundred have now taken another huge leap forward.

In building the Clockwise Campus metaverse space, we wanted to ensure that we weaved in the wellness aspects that we hold so valuable in our physical Clockwise spaces. Design of office spaces is a huge part of ensuring we are supporting our members’ wellbeing throughout their working day. In our physical hubs, we ensure the light, sound and design are stimulating but calming, we ensure lots of biophilia to promote energy and we are careful to consider those who are neurodivergent with our wayfinding, colours and features.

Infinite architecture

It was integral that we brought this wellness-focused design into the metaverse space, which is why we so carefully modelled it on our physical hubs, while adding that other-worldly, infinite architecture.

We recently presented our first event in the metaverse: an insightful AI roundtable discussion hosted by myself alongside other industry experts across design, AI, wellbeing and property. We delved deeper into the birth of the Clockwise Campus hub, what goes into such a project and the impact that this has had and will have on the wider property industry. This is the first of an exciting programme of events to come.

By embracing the metaverse early on, we’re signalling our readiness at Clockwise to embrace new technologies and embrace the future of digital interaction. We’ve worked to leverage the unique opportunities presented by the metaverse and redefine the way we interact with customers, partners and the wider digital ecosystem, paving the way for continued success in the digital age.
