DE&I

We know how important diversity, equity & inclusion (DE&I) is to you. We also know how difficult it is to achieve. At BE News, we want to leverage our unique position as the only news-led website covering the entire built environment to galvanise the whole community into action on DE&I.

For our part, we intend to lead by example by ensuring we have a diverse range of contributors and delivering editorial content that does not just cover the entire built environment but resonates with that wider community – informing and connecting those just starting out in the industry as well as those at the pinnacles of their careers. That is why in the BE Informed section of the website, you will be able to read the latest career news, as well as ask for – and receive – advice in the Job Clinic. You will also be able to share your career journeys with the wider built environment community in My BE Career or My Alternative Career.

Our mission is to be inclusive, not exclusive, so while we will be promoting different aspects of diversity, whether relating to gender identity, sexuality, ethnicity, social mobility, neurodiversity or disability, we will never do so at the expense of other DE&I communities – or of those from more traditional backgrounds. We also strive to inspire and encourage rather than preach or judge.
