Real estate developer and operator Downing has appointed Jonathan Tizard as the company’s first chief technology officer (CTO).
Tizard, who has a wealth of experience in technology leadership, digital transformation and building high-performing teams, previously led technology functions for e-commerce operators Boohoo, Missguided and LadBible. He joins Downing from Vita Group where he served as CTO.
In his new role, he will oversee the continued development of the company’s technology platforms, data systems and digital services, helping teams across the business make better use of real-time information and emerging technologies.
Tizard will also play a key role in driving innovation across resident engagement, business operations and the wider customer journey.
Tizard said: “The creation of a chief technology officer role reflects Downing’s commitment to technology, innovation and continuous improvement. It’s an exciting opportunity to help shape how digital solutions, data and emerging technologies support the next stage of the company’s growth. I’m looking forward to partnering with teams across the business to modernise systems, strengthen our data capabilities and identify new opportunities to improve both operational performance and customer experience.”
Bay Downing, joint chief executive officer at Downing, added: “Jonathan’s appointment marks an important milestone in Downing’s continued evolution as a modern, technology-enabled, AI-ready and data-driven real estate business. As we grow across our student, residential and wider operating platforms, technology, AI and data will play an increasingly central role in how we improve performance, enhance the customer experience and make smarter decisions across the group. As chief technology officer, Jonathan will work closely with teams across the business to help us improve efficiency, enhance customer experience and unlock new opportunities through technology.”
