Bargate has secured outline planning permission for up to 60 homes in the Hampshire village of Braishfield, on the outskirts of Romsey.
The development, which will be built on a 11.1-acre site, will comprise a mix of one- to four-bedroom homes in addition to a multi-functional green space providing opportunities for recreational activities and play.
Of the new homes, 24 will be allocated for affordable housing and will be delivered through Bargate’s parent company VIVID.
Laura Mills, senior planner for Bargate, said: “Following the constructive pre-app engagement with the LPA prior to submitting the outline application for this site, we are pleased it has been unanimously approved by Test Valley’s planning cmmittee. This positive outcome brings us a step closer to creating a quality, family-orientated development in Braishfield. With the village centre opposite, it’s ideally located to help facilitate sustainable growth for this popular rural community.
“This scheme would provide a boost to the housing mix in the immediate area, while also delivering high-quality green infrastructure, including landscaping and new play areas for the enjoyment of all those living nearby. Bird, bat and insect boxes, provision for extensive rewilding and habitat creation will be a key factor of the scheme design. We will continue to work alongside Test Valley’s officers, councillors and consultees while we prepare the detailed plans.”
The outline application was prepared for Bargate by Master Land and Planning and multi-disciplinary firm Mosaic Urban Design.
