Sunderland City Council has launched a search to find a development partner to deliver the Sheepfolds residential-led scheme in the city centre.

Sheepfolds is the next phase of the Riverside Sunderland development which will see around 1,000 new homes and circa 1m sq ft of office and workspace created, in addition to new parks and public realm.

Mark McKelvey, director at Avison Young, which is assisting the council on its search for a development partner, said: “The Sheepfolds Masterplan envisages circa 600 dwellings, a potential new school, community facilities, high quality public realm and a pedestrian bridge linking Sheepfolds to the south of the river. The first phase includes circa 160 dwellings and a mobility hub.

“Sunderland City Council and Avison Young are working to secure a developer that can deliver the council’s aspirations and add to the substantial progress that has already been made in regenerating Sunderland city centre.”
