McLaren Living has submitted a new planning application for the redevelopment of Broad Street Mall in Reading.
The plans for the southern part of the 4.6-acre site build on the previous consent and according to McLaren the proposed new development “reflects the latest policy and legislative standards and market needs”.
The development, which was designed by AHR Architects, will deliver more than 600 ‘tenure-blind’ market and affordable build-to-rent (BTR) homes, circa 15,000 sq ft of office retail and leisure space, new public realm and improvements to Broad Street Mall.
The three residential buildings will be strategically positioned to the south of Broad Street Mall and will incorporate the use of photovoltaics and air-source heat pumps.
Each apartment will achieve a minimum EPC B rating and the development is also seeking to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating in relation to the non-residential parts of the buildings.
