Network Space has agreed a deal to sell a 19-acre site at Shaw Lane, Carlton, near Barnsley, with outline planning consent for up to 215 homes to Vistry for an undisclosed sum.

Vistry will work with a registered provider to deliver up to 50% of the homes on site as affordable housing, with a further £1m contribution earmarked to support improvements to local education facilities.

Stephen Barnes, managing director of Network Space Developments, said: “Exchanging contracts marks another positive step in supporting Barnsley’s housing growth ambitions. The scheme will provide an attractive mix of new homes alongside meaningful investment in local infrastructure and community facilities. It’s a great outcome for both residents and the wider area.

“This development is designed not only to meet demand for quality new homes but to enhance the fabric of the local area. The investment in footpaths, education and wildlife protection ensures the scheme delivers lasting benefits for the whole community. Shaw Lane is ideally placed for modern family living, combining strong transport links with access to green spaces and existing services. Seeing this land coming forward for development is an important step in continuing Carlton’s growth and meeting local housing needs.”
