Vistry Group has agreed a deal with Inspired Villages to build 54 apartments at Elderswell Village in Turvey, Bedfordshire.
The first phase of the integrated retirement community (IRC) completed in 2022 and comprises 76 age-appropriate homes and extensive communal facilities, including a gym, restaurant, café and wider wellness facilities.
The next phase of the development will see an additional 54 apartments delivered around the village centre.
The net zero carbon scheme, which was built using modern methods of construction, boasts several environmental features, including ground source heat pumps, PV panels, LED lighting, EV charging points and FSC timber.
Andy Reynolds, managing director of Vistry South East Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be working with Inspired Villages to build these beautifully designed assisted living apartments at the award-winning Elderswell Village in Turvey. We’re excited to be leading the way in meeting the requirements of those needing this type of accommodation when housing is in such high demand. These much-needed new homes will be built to an exceptional standard to create a thriving and sustainable community.”
Louise Freeman, village manager at Elderswell, added: “We are immensely proud of the happy, thriving village we have created at Elderswell so it’s hugely exciting to be growing that community with further phases. In a recent customer satisfaction survey, residents here marked their overall satisfaction at 94.4%. The need for more age-appropriate housing for the UK’s ageing population is significant and we’re proud to be supporting that need in Bedfordshire.”
Work is expected to start on the second phase of development at Elderswell Village this month.
