BNP Paribas Real Estate has launched a sustainability framework offering clients an “integrated and holistic service” to help them monitor and achieve ESG targets.
The company said the framework, which can be applied at individual asset or portfolio level, considers sustainability targets, fund strategies and the buildings themselves to “create an optimised set of upgrades over the span of an asset’s lifecycle”.
The new sustainability framework includes support with project managing the implementation of upgrades, as well as collaboration and engagement with occupiers to meet several sustainability targets such as MEES, net zero or other initiatives including NABERS, as well as providing continual governance monitoring.
Donna Rourke, head of ESG and sustainability at BNP Paribas Real Estate, said: “The real estate sector has been heavily focusing on MEES legislative changes of late, however, it’s important to note that this does not future proof against energy costs or emissions. We know occupiers will be looking for energy efficient buildings in the future, based on use, not just on EPC.
“Therefore, to futureproof, we have developed this framework to continually map the pathway to comply with legislation and track the route to net zero. This integrated and holistic approaches aims to remove barriers and lean on the right built environment professionals at the right time.”
