CERT has commenced construction of the Peelers Yard build-to-rent (BTR) scheme in New Cross, Manchester.
The project, which is backed by Myprotein founder Oliver Cookson, will deliver 81 apartments on the site of a former police and fire station built in 1872.
Designed by Tim Groom Architects, Peelers Yard comprises a mix of one- and two-bedroom homes, with many of the homes integrated into the remaining boundary walls of the original historic building.
Mike Lomas, managing director of Big Red Construction, which has been appointed to deliver the scheme, said: “We’re delighted to partner with CERT on the sensitive restoration of Peelers Yard, to bring this old structure back to modern use.”
Howard Lord, managing director of CERT, added: “2024 has started with us making a big step towards delivering this exciting scheme. This project is our first with Big Red, who have been fantastic to work with so far and we are looking forward to delivering this scheme with them.
Upon completion the scheme will be operated by CERT’s property management team.
