Hawkstone Properties has received planning consent from Southampton City Council for 384 build-to-rent (BTR) flats on a former gasworks site in the city.

Designed by Corstorphine & Wright, the scheme comprises four blocks ranging in height from eight to 17 storeys, on a site on Britannia Road near St Mary’s Stadium.

Edward Norman, design director at Corstorphine & Wright, said: “We have spent the past four years collaborating with Hawkstone, Southampton City Council, and our fellow consultants on the development of this landmark residential scheme. Our vision for the project is to contribute to the sustainability and prosperity of this part of Southampton adjacent to St Mary’s Stadium.”

“The distinctive scheme, which will form the Northern Gateway to the Itchen Riverside and city, has been designed to echo its industrial past.”
