Joint venture partners Step Places, Southway Housing Trust and Manchester Metropolitan University have submitted a planning application for a new inclusive, multi-generational residential development at Ryebank, Chorlton.
The proposed scheme, which is being built on the former Jacksons Brickworks clay pits, will deliver 120 new energy-efficient homes.
In addition to offering co-housing, private sale properties and affordable homes, the scheme will provide eight one-bedroom apartments specifically designed for independent living for young adults with autistic needs and 42 age-friendly housing to support independent living for people aged over 55, which will be delivered by community-based housing association Southway Housing Trust.
There will also be a significant retention and enhancement of green spaces, including community gardens, village greens, orchards and courtyards, as well as planting, play and learning spaces.
