Infrastructure Investments has appointed RED Construction Group’s London division to complete works on a £31m student accommodation scheme close to Old Street Station in Shoreditch.
The appointment follows the completion of £1.8m worth of enabling works undertaken by RED Construction’s special projects team.
The London team will carry out an extensive refurbishment and structural alterations increasing the size of Willen House from 47,000 sq ft to more than 70,000 sq ft.
Designed by ECE Westworks, the building’s height will be increased from six to eight storeys and a new façade with high-performance windows and glass-reinforced concrete will also be added.
The refurbished building will accommodate 208 bedrooms across seven floors, complemented by modern communal areas, with two commercial units located on the ground floor.
