Hammerson closes in on deal to purchase controlling stake in Brent Cross for £200m

Hammerson is closing in on a deal to acquire abrdn UK Shopping Centre Trust’s (SCUT) stake in Brent Cross shopping centre for £200m.

The company intends to purchase a 59% stake in the centre from SCUT, which combined with its existing stake would take its ownership of Brent Cross to more than 90%.

In a statement, the company said the acquisition process is “ongoing and a further update will follow in due course”.

The shopping centre opened in 1976 and attracts 10.6 million visitors annually.
