Trafford Council has submitted a planning application to build 53 homes on the Lacy Street car park and former Royal Mail sorting office and probation centre in Stretford.
Designed by Pozzoni Architecture, the scheme will comprise a mix of two-, three- and four-bedroom houses and two-bedroom apartments, 25% of which will be affordable.
The Lacy Street site forms part of the overall regeneration of Stretford outlined in the 2021 and 2024 masterplan.
Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s executive member for economy and regeneration, said: “This is a crucial site and forms part of the overall Stretford masterplan. We are applying for permission to build 53 new homes – 14 of which are affordable. The designs reflect feedback that we have had from residents in the consultation about the need to develop houses, as well as flats, and to open up access to the canal in the area.”
