Blackstone has abandoned its potential bid to acquire self-storage operator Big Yellow Group.

In October, Blackstone said it was contemplating a cash takeover bid for the business. However, the proposed offer and valuation the firm presented to the board of Big Yellow Group fell short of the self-storage operator’s expectations.

In a statement, the board of Big Yellow Group said it had considered the offer in the context of the group’s “strong performance, strategy and business model” and concluded “that there is no basis for continuing discussions with Blackstone”.

Big Yellow Group said it had indicated to Blackstone the “put-up or shut-up” deadline of 8 December 2025 would not be extended.

In its own regulatory update, Blackstone confirmed it had no intention of making an offer for the company.
