A former motor dealership in Doncaster has been put up for sale by the administrators.

Mark Hodgett and David Acland of FRP Advisory, who were appointed administrators over Volkswagen and Skoda dealer T Hayselden (Doncaster), have instructed Watling Real Estate and Rapleys to handle the sale of the 2.63-acre site.

At present, the site is divided into two areas, with the former VW dealership, which features a showroom, offices and workshops, situated towards the front area, flanking North Bridge Road and York Road roundabout. The second area, to the rear, accommodates the former Skoda dealership and includes a showroom, offices and workshops. Watling and Rapleys expect a strong level of interest thanks to the site’s potential for adaptive reuse.

Alex Sweetman, a director in the Leeds office of Watling Real Estate, said: “Alongside the site’s motor trade potential there’s an excellent opportunity to repurpose it for a wide range of commercial uses. The site’s designated for employment and so it’s likely that the local authority would consider redevelopment proposals for alternative commercial uses, provided that the end use is a generator of jobs.”

Mark Frostick, associate partner at Rapleys, added: “This site will appeal to a range of potential purchasers thanks to the flexibility of future uses available. It currently offers almost 25,000 sq ft of commercial space but, as a purpose-built dealership complex it will also appeal to both franchised and used car dealers.”
