A former mansion and hospital with detailed planning consent for 45 homes in St Andrews, Scotland, has been put up for sale.
Craigtoun Manor, which is situated adjacent to The Craigtoun Golf Course (formerly The Duke’s) in St Andrews, is a Category B listed former mansion house with ancillary grounds. It was constructed in 1903 and was used as a maternity hospital from 1947 until 1992. It has remained vacant since.
The five-storey property has a gross internal area of circa 35,819 sq ft and comprises Scottish baronial features, including a number of turrets and fine stone work, a marble staircase and a panelled hall.
The development proposals will see the main building converted into 27 new apartments with 18 new build homes constructed in the grounds of the site.
The apartment mix comprises four one-bedroom apartments, 18 two-bedroom apartments, four three-bedroom apartments and one three-bedroom triplex apartment. The new-build element comprises four four-bedroom semi-detached houses and 14 four-bedroom townhouses.
There is also an additional piece of land at Mount Melville included in the sale, extending to approximately 4.13 acres.
