The Owl Group has purchased a 16.63-acre residential development site in Newbold Verdon, Leicestershire, for an undisclosed price.
The housebuilder has acquired the site with outline planning permission for 135 new homes, following a deal with Richborough and John Allison Land & Research.
Situated off Brascote Lane, the site benefits from a draft allocation in the emerging Hinckley & Bosworth local plan.
Conor Garvey, head of land and partnerships (East Midlands), at The Owl Group, said: “A lot of work has gone into reaching this point, and completing this land purchase is an important milestone for Owl’s growth in the East Midlands. Particular thanks go to our land and partnerships manager, Stephanie Parker, for her hard work and persistence. Our focus now turns to progressing the detailed planning application and bringing this site through to delivery.”
Mike Kelly, The Owl Group’s managing director (East Midlands), added: “Securing the Newbold Verdon site is a significant acquisition and a strategic step in expanding our footprint in the East Midlands. This transaction reflects the strength of our team and our ability to bring larger opportunities forward, while keeping quality homes and strong working relationships at the heart of what we do.
“Newbold Verdon has a strong sense of community with local shops, a primary school and wider facilities, and is certainly somewhere people are proud to call home. Surrounded by beautiful countryside yet easily commutable from Leicester, Hinckley and Market Bosworth, we are confident the site will deliver a thriving new neighbourhood where residents can enjoy the best of village life.”
Jonathan Bloor, managing director (western) at Richborough, the site promoter, said: “It’s great to see this site moving forward with Owl. Ambitious SME housebuilders have a vital role to play in strengthening the resilience and capacity of the housing sector. Newbold Verdon is an excellent example of how our collaborative, design-led and technically robust approach can unlock development opportunities. We’re pleased to have secured a positive outcome for the landowners and look forward to continuing our partnership with Owl as they bring forward much-needed homes for the local community. Owl have been a pleasure to deal with, and we look forward to working with them again.”
