Chinese-owned e-fulfilment business Super Smart Services is looking to sub-let up to 590,000 sq ft of surplus warehousing space across five units, BE News can reveal.
The company has appointed Avison Young and Harris Lamb to sub-let the space, due to a slowdown in business activity caused by a tail-off in online retail sales.
The five units, which are available for immediate occupation, are located in Cannock, Burton-on-Trent, Worcester and Lichfield.
In Cannock, it is marketing the 144,472 sq ft Jupiter 144, the lease on which expires in October 2035; in Burton-on-Trent, it is marketing the 103,947 sq ft B104 at St Modwen Park, the lease on which expires in January 2036; in Worcester, it is marketing Worcester 116, a 116,777 sq ft warehouse at Sixways Park, which is leased until May 2036; and in Lichfield, it is marketing two buildings: the 108,430 sq ft FP108 at Fradley Park, where the lease expires in May 2028, and the 117,184 sq ft Liberty 117 building, the lease on which expires in June 2036.
BE News understands the e-fulfilment business may not sub-let all the space, which is fully fitted out. It may also look to secure short term sub-lets if it takes the view that it will need the space again in a few years’ time.
David Willmer, principal in the national industrial and distribution team at Avison Young, said: “We are receiving a good level of interest, particularly due to the fitted nature of the units and we are hopeful of agreeing terms shortly on a sub-letting basis.”
The business, which has operations in China, America, the UK and Europe, will still have just under 1.1m sq ft of space in the UK if it sub-lets all of the space currently being marketed.
