CBRE has promoted Marco Hekman to chairman, advisory services, Continental Europe and UK and Ireland.
Hekman, who has been CBRE’s Continental Europe leader since 2016 and previously served as chairman of EMEA capital markets, joined the business in 1988 and was appointed managing director of the Netherlands in 2000.
The leader of CBRE’s UK & Ireland business, a position currently held by Ciaran Bird, who announced earlier this year that he was stepping down, will report to Hekman under the new structure.
Vikram Kohli, CBRE’s CEO of advisory services, said: “Marco is an exceptional manager, strategist and leader, who has driven our Continental Europe business to new heights of success. Under Marco’s leadership, we will foster increased collaboration between our UK and Continental Europe businesses, positioning us to capitalise on the significant growth opportunities we foresee for CBRE across Europe.”
Hekman added: “CBRE has been my professional life for 35 years. I’m proud to have grown alongside the company and see bright days ahead for our clients and people across Europe.”
