E.ON UK has signed an agreement to fully acquire Eco2Solar, the UK market leader in residential solar installations for property developers and new-build housing.
E.ON UK acquired a 49% stake in the company in December 2020 and has now taken full ownership of the business.
To date, Eco2Solar, which was founded in 2007, has installed solar panels on more than 50,000 homes, generating around 85 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity.
Eco2Solar aims to make solar energy solutions a viable, cost-effective standard on every new home, helping to give homebuyers more flexibility with renewable energy choices and drive sustainable housing development.
Chris Norbury, CEO of E.ON UK, said: “This is another important, strategic step towards accelerating our growth in the new builds market, while connecting residential customers to flexible energy solutions that help to lower their bills, and continuing to lead on the UK’s transition to clean energy. Having acquired a 49% stake in Eco2Solar five years ago, we have been helping developers deliver renewable energy solutions to reduce carbon emissions, and with the aim of making solar energy a flexible and affordable for the many, not the few.”
