The former Belmont School at Holmbury St Mary, near Dorking, Surrey, has been put up for sale by the joint administrators of Belmont School (Feldemore) Educational Trust.
Glen Carter and Phillip Sykes of RSM UK Restructuring Advisory LLP have appointed the education and charities team at Knight Frank to market the Grade II-listed property.
It was originally built around 1880 as a country house called ‘Feldemore’ for Edwin Waterhouse, co-founder of the accountancy practice of the originally named Price Waterhouse. The house was requisitioned by the British Army during the Second World War and after that was leased for 10 years by the Admiralty.
The site currently features 14 buildings providing teaching and boarding accommodation, a dining hall, theatre, sports hall, early years centre, headmaster’s house and various outbuildings.
The 44-acre site also includes two hard surfaced playing areas, playing fields, formal gardens, woodland, as well as outdoor tennis courts and a heated outdoor swimming pool.
