Historic England has put a circa 3.145-acre site within the grounds of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings up for sale.

The brownfield site presents a rare opportunity to accommodate a development of residential homes around the recently restored historic mill complex.

Potential purchasers have until the end of January 2025 to submit expressions of interest.

Duncan Wilson CBE, chief executive of Historic England, said: “We believe that the brownfield site around the Grade I listed Main Mill at Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings provides an opportunity to deliver an exceptional, exemplary residential development which has the potential to enhance its historic setting.”

James Strong, director at LSH, which has been appointed to market the opportunity, added: “We are seeking an experienced developer to deliver exemplary residential development around the restored mill. The development will further breathe new life into the area and bring with it new homes and jobs and improve the overall visitor experience”
