Hospitality group Ensarb has acquired the Grade II* listed The Lakeside wedding venue located just outside Arnold in Nottinghamshire for £2.64m from the receivers.

Joint fixed charge receivers Andrew Foster and Chris Walker instructed Watling Real Estate and Christie & Co to sell the venue, which went on the market with a guide price of £2.5m in March this year.

The Lakeside is a former water pumping station dating back to 1873, which comprises the iconic Thomas Hawksley Tower and main wedding venue overlook an ornamental lake, parkland, and landscaped gardens. The site also includes West Lodge cottage, which is located next to the main gate and provides onsite accommodation to the main venue.

The main venue features an 80-cover restaurant with an additional 40 mezzanine spaces, a bar and lounge for 80 people, a function room for 80 people, and a main wedding/function suite, with provides seating capacity for 150+ people with an outdoor terrace area for 100 people.

Toby O’Sullivan, a director in Watling’s Birmingham office, said: “This exceptional Grade II* listed wedding venue is a well-known regional landmark and has remained vacant and closed for some time despite having been extensively converted and restored by its previous owner. We are pleased to have sold it to Ensarb who have an excellent track record of successfully operating venues such as The Lakeside.”

Law firm TLT advised the joint fixed charge receivers and Knights acted for Ensarb.
