Fashion retailer JD Sports is expanding its presence in Burnley by relocating to a larger store at Charter Walk Shopping Centre.

The brand is moving from its current store at 50 The Mall to 30-34 The Mall & 6-10 Fleet Walk, increasing its ground floor trading space from 3,973 sq ft to 5,817 sq ft. JD Sports has signed a 10-year lease on the unit.

Addington, asset managers for the shopping centre’s owner Burnley Council, is in active discussions with interested parties to re-let its current store.

Matthew Allen, principal at Addington, said: “We are delighted that JD Sports, who has been a key part of Burnley’s retail landscape for over 20 years has recommitted to the shopping centre. Occupancy across Charter Walk remains very high. By consolidating smaller units into larger, modern retail spaces, the centre is securing the long-term presence of national retailers, enhancing the overall sustainability of Charter Walk as a thriving destination for the local community.”

Barker Proudlove advised Addington and Burnley Council on the transaction.
