Life Science REIT has rebranded and repositioned Cambourne Business Park as Cambourne Park Science & Technology Campus.
The REIT acquired the 50-acre site in 2021 and in the intervening years its investment advisor Ironstone Asset Management has assessed and evaluated the “future trajectory of the location, including a re-branding exercise, feasibility studies for the refurbishment and re-purposing of buildings, and the development of an exciting masterplan which transitions from a traditional business park towards a more science and technology focused campus”.
The site recently secured a letting to New Zealand-headquartered agritech business Rakon, which has relocated its chipset design hub to the campus.
Reza Sedehi, head of products at Rakon, said: “Rakon has been designing chipsets to enable connectivity since 2008. Today, we cannot be more excited to relocate our boutique chipset design hub to the UK’s ‘silicon fen’, as we set to expand our ASIC-based product portfolio. Being in Cambourne will allow us to have access to the world’s leading engineers, bring us closer to our customers – such as ublox and MediaTek – and provide us with a peaceful, exciting and innovative working environment.”
