London Square has secured planning consent for the Ransome’s Wharf residential development close to the River Thames in Battersea.
The development will feature five blocks of low-rise apartments set in landscaped gardens along the waterfront and will provide 118 homes – 94 apartments for private sale and 24 affordable homes – alongside more than 19,000 sq ft of commercial space.
London Square acquired the vacant 1.6-acre site earlier this year and submitted an application to amend the original 2015 permission to ensure compliance with updated fire safety regulations and upgrade the energy strategy to meet current standards.
Adam Lawrence, chief executive officer of London Square, said: “Ransome’s Wharf is a great example of our ability to turn around a brownfield housing site which has been stuck for many years. Just five months post acquisition, we have a stunning and compliant scheme which is proceedable.
“Our development will bring new focus to this stretch of the Thames, creating a highly attractive destination in one of London’s most desirable areas. We look forward to getting on site as soon as we have achieved Building Safety Regulator approval later this year.”
