Westminster City Council has appointed McLaren Construction as the main construction partner for the £229m second phase of the Ebury Bridge redevelopment in Knightsbridge and Belgravia.
Phase 2 of the project comprises three independent and two adjoined buildings, which required four building safety applications to the Building Safety Regulator, which McLaren successfully submitted and had validated by the regulator.
McLaren is using modern methods of construction, prefabricating the façade elements to significantly reduce the transport of materials to site and the carbon footprint of the development.
The regeneration project will see the existing 1930s council estate transformed, delivering 779 homes and 373 homes for social rent, across three phases.
Phase 1 of the scheme completed in December 2024, with 226 homes delivered, 100 of which were for social rent. Phase 2 will provide an additional 334 homes, 228 of which are for social rent.
It will also re-establish the Ebury Bridge Road retail parade, provide new premises for longstanding local businesses, and introduce new independent shops, community supermarkets and cafés.
