Mediterranean restaurant and bar Carmel has signed for its second site in London at 7-8 Market Place, Fitzrovia.
The restaurant brand has agreed a 15 year lease with landlord Woven Spaces on the 5,000 sq ft unit, which will open in the spring.
Josh Katz, founder of Carmel, said: “Carmel in Queen’s Park has become such a cherished, local favourite and we wanted to bring the sense of this to Central London. The menu will continue to focus on the eastern Mediterranean cuisine which I love, but with a bigger kitchen and space, we can explore more with our menu.”
Adriana Paice Kent, director of Woven Spaces, added: “Woven Spaces are delighted to welcome Carmel to Market Place. Their new opening marks an exciting chapter in the ongoing transformation of the historic and culturally vibrant area, driving forward our shared vision for Market Place as a premier leisure destination in the heart of London.”
Josh Leon, director in the restaurants and leisure team at Savills, which acted for the landlord on the letting, said: “Market Place is a fantastic spot just next to Oxford Circus with a critical mass of restaurants and outside seating. Woven Spaces have recently taken ownership of several units on the street and Carmel will be the first step in their exciting plans for the area, with another restaurant becoming available soon.”
