Investment manager Nuveen Real Estate has made a double hire from Ares.
The company has recruited Batih Van Leer and Stefano Rubini as managing directors and co-heads of its strategic transactions team in Europe.
Van Leer (pictured) joins Nuveen after nearly a decade at Ares. Prior to that, he held roles at CBRE Investment Management and with Savills in the Netherlands.
Rubini spent the past three years at Ares and prior to that he worked for Partners Group in Switzerland and the UK.
Van Leer and Rubini will join Nuveen Real Estate’s senior leadership team, which oversees the management of the European real estate team’s overall business. They will both be based in the firm’s European head office in London from January.
In their new roles, the duo will work in partnership with Nuveen’s existing vertically integrated sector specialist teams across Europe and will also oversee Nuveen’s European value add series.
