The Property Litigation Association (PLA) is launching a new committee to promote diversity, equity and inclusion within its membership.

The committee will initially prioritise efforts to improve ethnic minority representation, gender equality and social mobility, with scope to include other protected characteristics in future.

The PLA is seeking to appoint a chair and is inviting members to join the committee to help shape the direction of its future programmes and activity.

Dellah Gilbert, chair of the PLA, said: “This new committee has an incredibly important role to play in delivering the PLA’s long-standing objective of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion both within our membership and the wider industry. Law is traditionally a sector that’s been slow to change but we urgently need to open up to more diverse talent and become much more representative of the society we serve. I’d like to invite all PLA members, whatever their background, to get in touch if they’d be interested in joining the committee and lending their voice in support of this critical conversation.”
