Linden Hill has submitted plans for the redevelopment of a 1960s built office building in Birmingham city centre into a purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme.
The asset manager plans to extend the five-storey, 62,500 sq ft Maple House to 10 storeys to provide 207 ensuite studios and 176 clusters of six, seven and 10 beds.
On-site amenities will include study areas, a communal dining hall, games room, gym, 164 bike spaces and a basement car park.
Antony Harding, director in LSH’s planning team, which advised Linden Hill on the planning application, said: “The mix of uses across UK town and city centres is constantly evolving and repurposing existing stock is a vital part of delivering sustainable urban communities.
“This scheme promises to bring a tired building back into contemporary use and will provide vital new accommodation for Birmingham’s growing student community whilst promising responding to Birmingham City Council’s recently approved Our Future City: Central Birmingham Framework 2045.”
