Land promoter Richborough has appointed affordable homes provider Bromford as delivery partner for a new residential development in Shurdington, Gloucestershire.

The 5.5-acre site has outline planning consent for up to 50 homes, which was secured at appeal in August.

All 50 homes will be affordable – an increase on what was originally consented – and Bromford will submit a reserved matters planning application next spring.

Melissa Slaney-Smith, senior disposals manager at Richborough, said: “This partnership with Bromford reflects our shared commitment to delivering high quality, affordable homes that meet genuine local need. It has been a pleasure working with the full team: Powells, Bromford, Gateley, Davies and Partners and Devonshires. They ensured the sale met target deadlines making it a smooth transaction.”

Giles Spencer, senior land manager at Bromford, added: “As one of the leading developers of affordable housing in the country we’re focused on providing energy-efficient, affordable homes that strengthen communities and offer real opportunity for local people. This site at Shurdington will deliver much needed new homes to the area.”

Stuart Leaver, from Powells, said: “Powells are pleased to have supported our clients throughout this long project from the start through to successful disposal of this exceptional site, achieved through the determination and professionalism of the Richborough team.”
