Savills raised more than £48m at its 1 September auction from the sale of 140 lots reflecting a 74% success rate.
A four-storey period house close to Canary Wharf sold for £990,000 – £200,000 more than its guide price – a nine-bedroom detached house in Beckenham sold for £763,000 and Parkfields and Millbrook House, a substantial Grade II listed property in Herefordshire, was purchased prior to the sale for in excess of its £1.1m guide price.
Commercial lots also proved popular, with an office building in London’s Angel Islington area, which sold above guide for £995,000, and a riverside site of more than five acres in Uxbridge sold post sale for in excess of its £3m guide price.
Robin Howeson, head of Savills Auctions, said: “Our first September auction exceeded our expectations with over £48m raised, which is the highest amount raised in a single auction since July 2022. We saw competitive bidding on higher value lots in London and the south east, with 26 properties sold for over £500,000, buoyed by the re-emergence of owner occupiers. Our latest results signal a strong appetite from buyers and sellers alike to get back to business following the August break.”
Savills has raised more than £350m from the sale of more than 1,000 lots via its live-streamed property auctions so far this year – 35% more properties than the same period last year.
The firm’s second September auction will take place on 20 September and instructions are still being taken.
