Barsad Investments has secured planning consent for 198 purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) units at 6 Hulse Road in Southampton.
The 3,768 sq metre site is currently occupied by St Margaret’s House – a 1960s block offering 100 student rooms/suites.
The building, which is located less then two miles from Southampton city centre, will be demolished to create modern, improved student units.
Alice Moore, associate director in Boyer’s London office, which advised Barsad on the planning application, said: “Quality student accommodation is in short supply in Southampton, as with so many other cities. In doubling the number of units currently available on the site, this scheme goes some way to meeting the very pressing need. In addition to Boyer and WGP Architects, the project team includes Pryce and Myers, Vector Design, City Designer, Stace LLP, Tyler Grange, MJC Tree Services, Turkington Martin and Anstey Horne.
