The Valesco Group has appointed former Ballymore asset management finance director Ross McCaskill as chief financial officer.

McCaskill has worked in the real estate and private equity sector for more than 20 years and at Valesco he will be responsible for the group’s finance strategy, including reporting and risk management.

Prior to working for Ballymore, he was chief operating officer at pan-European real estate investment and asset manager Ekistics Property Advisors and chief financial officer at AIM listed Conygar Investment Company.

Shiraz Jiwa, founder and CEO of The Valesco Group, said: “Ross has a proven track record in building best-in-class finance functions across the real estate and private equity space. Valesco’s appetite for disruption in the real estate space is built on its proven ability to capitalise on pricing dislocations and complex situations, which are now broader and deeper in nature given the geopolitical and macro-economic landscape. Ross’ experience will be an important component in helping us unlock technical complexity to meet our investment ambitions.”

McCaskill added: “This is a rare opportunity to join one of Europe’s most dynamic and ambitious real estate managers. I very much look forward to working with Shiraz and his talented team to build out the finance function and play a key role in delivering on the company’s strategic growth plans.”
