Westfield London crowned UK’s number one shopping centre

Westfield London has been named as the UK’s number one shopping centre for the seventh year running in Trevor Wood Associates’ ‘Going Shopping 2026 – The Definitive Guide to Shopping Centres’ report.

Westfield Stratford City and Bluewater maintained their second and third places with slightly reduced totals while the majority of schemes in the top 500 recorded lower scores this year. 

The Lexicon in Bracknell recorded the biggest increase in points following a number of new lettings and soared into the top 20. Battersea Power Station entered the top 50 shopping centre rankings in 45th place following the opening of more new shops at the scheme. 

The Royals Shopping Centre in Southend-on-Sea was the highest riser in this years’ rankings following the re-letting of the former Primark store at the centre to Dunelm.

For the fourth year in a row, Bicester Village was considered to be the leading outlet centre with Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet close behind in second place. Designer Outlet Cotswolds in Ashchurch, Tewkesbury, was a new entry in the top 20.

Glasgow Fort in Easterhouse, Glasgow, was ranked the leading shopping park for the first time since 2019, edging Fort Kinnaird in Newcraighall, Edinburgh, into second place. Broughton in Chester returned to the top 10 after a two-year absence.

For the third year on the trot, Card Factory was rated the leading tenant with Costa Coffee and Greggs retaining their spots in the top three. The Perfume Shop rose to 15th place and Starbucks entered the top 20 for the first time in 19th place.

Specsavers was a new entry to the top 30 and Waterstones entered the top 40 in 38th spot. Boots remained the leading shopping centre anchor store and 11 retailers opened more than five new units in the last year, with Lovisa adding 26 units.
