Workspace Group’s plans for a sustainable new 16-storey block of offices and studios at Havelock Terrace in Battersea have been given the green light by planners.
Located in the Battersea Design & Technology Quarter (BDTQ), the Squire and Partners-designed building, which also offers industrial units, workshops and creative spaces, takes inspiration from the industrial character of the local area, incorporating the rich brick and metal palette of the nearby Battersea Power Station and railways that flank the site
According to Squire and Partners: “The building’s cube form is eroded with purposeful cut outs to create numerous external planted terraces. A textured brick pattern crowns the building to create feature signage and mark the main entry points to the site, with a biodiverse roof capping the development.
Arches are introduced at the base of the building to create active frontages, visual connections to the railway bridges, and entrances to light industrial units. Public uses will activate the ground level, with café space to serve a vibrant front of house communal area that will spill out onto a new public plaza along Palmerston Court.”
