Canmoor and a fund managed by Credit Suisse Asset Management have received planning consent for the redevelopment of an office building in Birmingham city centre.
The proposals for the existing building at 120 Edmund Street will see it extensively refurbished with three new floors added to create a 176,000 sq ft, 11 storey Grade A office called The Drapery.
External terraces will be added on floors seven to 10, with winter gardens introduced on the lower floors. On the ground floor, a retail/café unit will front onto Cornwall Street.
Canmoor is targeting BREEAM Excellent, EPC A and a Nabers rating of 4* for the redevelopment.
Sam Walker, director of Canmoor, said: “Having worked closely with Birmingham City Council and other local stakeholders, we are delighted to receive consent to regenerate 120 Edmund Street into a best-in-class office building to attract new occupiers to the CBD and benefit the local community. The high-quality, holistic refurbishment of this impressive city centre HQ building was designed by Buckley Gray Yeoman and seeks to enhance both the quality of the building and the occupier’s experience, incorporating high sustainability credentials.”
Credit Suisse Asset Management and Canmoor were advised on the planning application by Savills and BGY. BNP Paribas Real Estate and JLL have been appointed as joint letting agents.
