Ballymore has submitted an outline planning application to redevelop the Broadwalk Shopping Centre in Edgware in partnership with Transport for London’s property company Places for London.
The redevelopment of the shopping centre and the adjacent bus station and garage will deliver: 3,365 new homes, 1,150 of which will be affordable; 463 student accommodation spaces; 460,000 sq ft of retail and leisure space, including a new larger Sainsbury’s store, cinema and leisure centre; a new transport interchange; and flexible floorspace that can deliver office, workspace and hotel uses, all located around a new town square.
Designed by Howells, the masterplan for the site will also deliver a significant increase in green space for the town centre including a new 4.7-acre Deans Brook Nature Park, which will be created by unlocking nearly five acres of land which has been inaccessible to the public for almost 100 years.
Ballymore acquired the Broadwalk Centre in 2020 and over the last three and a half years the project team has worked closely with the local residents and an extensive network of stakeholders to gain their insights into how the development can best serve the needs of the local community.
