Real estate law firm Maples Teesdale has hired Rob Atkin-House as a partner in the firm’s planning team.

Atkin-House, who has more than 20 years of planning experience, joins from Weightmans where he was principal associate in the firm’s national planning team.

Prior to that he was in-house general counsel and commercial director at Populo Living and spent four years at Mishcon de Reya where he advised a range of private sector clients on all aspects of planning, highways and compulsory purchase law.

John Bosworth, head of planning at Maples Teesdale, said: “As the new government’s planning policies begin to take shape, clients are increasingly looking for guidance on anticipating their likely impact as the legislative landscape shifts.

“Rob’s substantial expertise across varied civic and commercial projects, and his impressive track record of delivering strategic planning overview and oversight, will significantly strengthen our planning offer. His appointment also signals our appetite for further growth of the planning team to meet increased demand.”

Atkin-House added: “I’m excited to be joining Maples Teesdale at a critical time for clients across the built environment. There are challenges abound for public and private sector organisations as the new government’s policies become law, but also fresh opportunities by navigating them effectively, and I’m looking forward to building on the firm’s strong planning credentials to deliver real added value for our clients.”
