The Vegetarian Society of the United Kingdom has acquired Generation House in Manchester from Benjamin Armitage (Hyde) for an undisclosed sum.
The office building, which is located at 15 Jersey Street, provides 3,687 sq ft of space and is located close to the heart of Manchester’s business district. The building will be occupied in its entirety by The Vegetarian Society.
Richard McIlwain, chief executive officer of The Vegetarian Society, said: “The Vegetarian Society is a Manchester institution having been headquartered in and around the city since 1848. It’s now great to be back in the city centre within thriving Ancoats and in a building that allows us to set up our new teaching kitchen ‘COOK!’ and develop new urban green space at the rear for use by schools and community groups.”
Andrew Cooke, an associate director in the tenant representation team at Savills Manchester, which advised The Vegetarian Society on the deal, added: “Having sold their Altrincham HQ last year, The Vegetarian Society have been looking for a new long term home for their operation and the space at Generation House perfectly suited their requirements to owner occupy. We’re thrilled to have been able to acquire this unique building on their behalf.”
Graham Collier, principal associate in the real estate team at Mills & Reeve, which acted on behalf of The Vegetarian Society, said: “It has been great to help the Vegetarian Society with their move to the centre of Manchester from Altrincham, and the team is delighted they’ve now got a space that fits their exciting plans for the future.”
