Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC) and ECF have selected Vinci as the preferred contractor to bring forward phase one of the £350m Stockport 8 mixed residential neighbourhood to the west of Stockport town centre.
Located on land either side of King Street West and next to the iconic railway viaduct, Stockport 8 will be one of the largest developments within the 130-acre Town Centre West masterplan, reconnecting the area to the town centre and creating a walkable, integrated community under the railway arches.
Subject to planning approval, Vinci will make a start on site in Q1 2026, with the demolition of the existing bus depot.

The team behind Stockport 8 comprises architect shedkm, landscape architects Planit, the planning team from Deloitte, project manager Walker Sime, Tace (MEP) and Renaissance for structural and civil engineering, Arup on highways and transport and engagement specialist Font Comms.
