Berkeley Estate Asset Management has secured planning consent for a major new mixed-use development in London’s Knightsbridge.
The 400,000 sq ft 1 Knightsbridge Green scheme will comprise a new corporate HQ building with a separate building aimed at SME tenants, and extensive retail space. Upon completion in 2029, the amount of office floorspace currently on site will be doubled.
The development will retain 31% of the existing floorspace and 81% of the structural mass of the original building as a result of the adoption of circular economy principles.
Will Lingard, senior director, planning and development at CBRE, which submitted the planning application on behalf of Berkeley Estate Asset Management, said: “1 Knightsbridge Green serves as a model for sustainable development in the heart of the Central Activities Zone. Whether retrofitting or redeveloping, growth doesn’t have to come at the expense of climate change and this approval is testament to the teams’ collective input around this.”
