Sovereign Peveril Brookfield has secured planning consent for the £500m retail-led, mixed-use Brookfield Riverside scheme in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire.

The development partner for the Borough of Broxbourne and Hertfordshire County Council will deliver 315,000 sq ft of retail, 230,000 sq ft of leisure and F&B, 160,000 sq ft of offices, a hotel, a new civic hub, 250 homes and 130 assisted living units, a 2,000-space car park and public realm improvements.

Chris Geaves, managing director of asset and development management at CBRE, which acted for Sovereign Peveril Brookfield, said: “Having successfully secured outline planning permission marks a key milestone in this transformative, urban regeneration project. It is one of the last opportunities of its kind in the UK and will create a new heart for shopping and leisure in a superb location. The local community’s feedback has been vital in shaping our plans for the new town centre, and we’re excited about the next phase in delivering the scheme.”

Ralph Jones, managing director of Peveril Securities added: “We are delighted to be involved in this development, impressively situated on the edge of London, and we very much look forward to bringing it to fruition.”

Carter Jonas acted as planning consultants.
