Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) has launched the next phase of its public consultation on the redevelopment of Croydon town centre.
The company intends to transform the Whitgift Centre into a residential-led, mixed-use urban heart for the town featuring a new network of green public spaces and a revitalised retail and leisure offer, refurbish and modernise the Centrale shopping centre and introduce new shops and food outlets in the iconic Allders building.
Adam Smith, strategic development director at Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, said: “This next phase of consultation represents a key milestone in refining our masterplan framework. Our ambition is to collaborate with the people of Croydon to help us design and create a vibrant, residential-led, mixed-use destination that reflects the needs and aspirations of Croydon’s communities with new public spaces, revitalised retail and leisure offers with community and sustainability at its heart.”
Jason Perry, mayor of Croydon, added: “The regeneration of Croydon town centre remains a top priority for me and I have been working with partners to drive forward my town centre vision and growth plan for the borough.
