Fibre network delivery company WHP Telecoms has signed for 27,000 sq ft at Denmark House, Angel Drove, in Ely.
The building’s landlord, Oil & Gas Holdings, has relocated its operations to Dubai and has retained a portion of the building.
WHP Telecoms is relocating to the park from its existing premises at Cambridge Research Park and is paying a headline rent of £365,000 per annum.
Luke Davenport, director at Cheffins, which represented the landlord on the letting, said: “This particular transaction has been rewarding as it is a prime example of the detailed market knowledge which Cheffins can bring to its clients. Denmark House was not actively on the market. Our client, who has historically occupied the whole building, was considering its options for how best to use Denmark House for its own business needs in the future.
“WHP Telecoms’ wish to expand from Cambridge Research Park presented an ideal opportunity to present to our client and happily we have been able to structure a deal where they can both operate from three self-contained parts in the building.
“The company’s relocation from an office premises into a multiple function office, workshop and warehouse is an example of another Cambridge business seeking to consolidate its various business needs under one roof. We are experiencing more companies leasing attractive ‘mid-tech’ buildings, seeking an opportunity to reduce their overall property outgoings by paying an enhanced industrial rent as opposed to a typical Cambridge business park office rent.”
