Wandsworth Council and Battersea Power Station Development Company have formed a partnership to deliver 200 new council homes on the 42-acre power station site.
The homes, which are part of the council’s Homes for Wandsworth programme, will be built on a currently undeveloped plot within Phase 5 of the power station masterplan, to the east of the Grade II* listed building.
Subject to planning and legal funding approvals, the development will provide well-designed homes inspired by the power station’s art deco heritage for local families at social rent levels.
The site, which is located near Battersea Power Station Underground station, will also feature new family-friendly, sustainable public spaces, tree-lined streets and opportunities for local businesses, leisure and hospitality operators.
Battersea Power Station Development Company and Wandsworth Council are working with the Greater London Authority (GLA) to deliver the new homes, which will be financed within the council’s existing housing revenue account and supported by GLA grant funding. A detailed planning application is expected to be submitted in early 2026.

I am committed to building on the progress which has already been made across the capital, with more new council homes started in London than at any time since the 1970s as we continue to build a better and fairer city for all.”

South London-based Dowen Farmer Architects (DFA) have been appointed as the architects for the development phase.
