Quintain has appointed executive chairman James Riddell as the company’s new CEO.

He replaces James Saunders who is stepping down from the CEO role before the end of the year after 18 years at the company, six as CEO.

Riddell (pictured) has spent 10 years on Quintain’s board, four as chairman. Prior to joining the firm, he spent 16 years with Lone Star as a senior managing director and co-head of Europe real estate, responsible for originating commercial real estate investments in Europe.

Saunders said: “It has been an honour working with the exceptional team at Quintain over the last 18 years and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved at Wembley Park. I am confident that Quintain is well positioned for its next chapter and now is the right time for me to hand over the reins. I wish the best of luck to James Riddell in his new role and to the rest of the Quintain team. I will be watching the company closely as it embarks on the next stage of its journey.”

Riddell added: “It is a privilege to take on the role of CEO at Quintain, as the business enters its next phase of growth. Having worked with Quintain for many years, I have seen first-hand the strength of the business and its potential. The build-to-rent [BTR] market in the UK is evolving rapidly, and we are well positioned to capitalise on the significant demand for high-quality rental housing across the country. I would like to thank James Saunders for his nearly two decades of exceptional leadership at Quintain. I’m confident we will continue to build on what’s already been achieved under his leadership, as we accelerate growth and play a more prominent role across the UK BTR market.”
